Want good preaching?

When you see me walking down the street, ear buds firmly in place, I’m probably not listening to music—although I am known to love Lady Gaga.  I use my iPod mostly for podcasts either to help me improve my German and Swedish by listening to downloaded programmes from their radio stations or to feed my love of religious study.  One way I think I can do that best is not just by reading but by listening to as many voices as I can, either programmed radio or communities who upload their weekly sermons to the web.

I discovered Arlington Street Church’s (a UU community in Boston, Massachusetts) podcast the other day and I have to say, I think it’s wonderful.  What role models for preaching.  I hope that the next time God gets me by the shirt in meeting and drags me up to give ministry, I do it with such skill—although in but a few words rather than a sermon.  And if I’m ever called to preach a sermon, I hope I can even be a patch on the ministers in Arlington Street.

Two I can definitely recommend: The G Word preached a few weeks ago, as well as Astonishing Generosity  from this last Sunday.

Peace.
