Quick post update and Daily Word
Sorry that I take so long between posts. I get a bit distracted plus I have exams at the moment so the next one is about half way finished. It’s going to be about sin and nowhere near as grim as it sounds.
In the meantime, I’d like to share today’s Daily Word from Unity. I really like Unity and wish there was more of a presence in England. In fact, when I first discovered Unitarians way back when, I had intended to go to a Unity church. I’m eternally glad I found the UU’s but equally glad that Unity has an excellent internet presence and Unity.fm so I am able to feed what I am coming to realise is my umbrella spirituality, under which my Quaker and Unitarian selves reside.
Unity produces a print magazine and a website called Daily Word. It has a word, an affirmation, a passage about the two and a word from the Bible and that’s it. They’re generally always very good but today’s particularly has touched me, hence why I want to share it. You can go to www.dailyword.com and just add it to your toolbar as it updates every day. Daily Word also has a presence on Twitter (@dailywordmag) run by a lovely person named Laura.
Today’s is:
TRANSCEND
I transcend myself and my circumstances, for I am Spirit.
At times I may try to change or control a situation through the power of my will or thoughts. But with prayer, I move beyond willpower, beyond thought. With prayer, I am lifted above my problems.
As I pray, I release the situation to which I’ve been giving my attention and I affirm: I transcend myself and all my circumstances, for I am Spirit. I am a spiritual being, having a human experience. Centered in God, I am filled with divine light, life, love and power.
I have within me untapped spiritual resources, unused spiritual powers, unexplored realms of being. As I lift my consciousness through prayer, I lay hold of and call into expression spiritual qualities and powers that transcend my human understanding.
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.—Acts 1:8

I’m going to try to get a new blog post out after the end of next week (exams will be over). Plus, I’ll be attending the Swarthmore lecture at Yearly Meeting and Karen Armstrong’s talk on the 9th of June at Friend’s House so I’ll have lots up in the coming weeks.
Until then: Peace.
